Abductees’ Mothers Association condemns the actions Houthi armed group has taken against 9 abductees, including mistreatment and refusing to provide food, drinking water, and medications, demanding their families to provide all their needs.Furthermore, the court has already ordered to release these abductees.

The abductees are mere civilians, who were abducted between 2018 and 2019.

They have been subjected to forced disappearance and torture. Their trials started on July 1st, 2022, and they ordered to be released as the court decided that the duration of imprisonment served was sufficient.

They were mostly imprisoned at Hunaish Prison in Alhudayda, after being transferred from Political Security Prison, Political Security Reformatory Prison, and Central Prison in Sana’a. However, the release order has not been carried out until this day.

We hold Houthi armed group completely accountable for the lives of our abducted sons, and deterioration of their physical and psychological health. We demand their immediate release.

We, finally, call upon the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the International Committee of the Red Cross to save the lives of the 9 abductees, and to mount the necessary pressure to carry out the release order, grant them their right of liberty and providing food, water, and medications as long as they are being detained.

Issued by Abductees’ Mothers Association, Alhudayda. September 20th, 2022.
