Abductees Mothers Association celebrates 20th anniversary of Security Council resolution 1325

Titled Together We Are Stronger, Abductees’ Mothers Association held a celebration, in Marib, in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security.

Many of the association’s members and supporters, belonging to different demographical classes, attended the celebration. Head of the association, Amat Alsalam Al-Haj, made a speech, in which she extended the association’s regards to all women around the world, especially feminist movements, whose constant fights and efforts resulted in resolution 1325. In her speech, Al-Haj explained the resolution’s items and called upon all women to carry on implementing the resolution until it is completely fulfilled.

The attendees expressed the hopes to achieve true empowerment in decision and peace making, and to provide the necessary protection for women in times of war.

Attending women highlighted their interest in resolution 1325 and all resolutions regarding women, especially as association’s members deal directly with warring parties.

In the celebration, women stressed on being strong together, and that their success to make peace depends on their cooperation and great efforts.
