Abductees’ Mothers Association Rally Statement Condemning Abduction Campaign Against Citizens in Al-Hudaydah Governorate

Abductees’ Mothers Association strongly condemns the abduction campaign launched by the Houthi group last week in Al-Hudaydah Governorate. At least 13 citizens, including a university student, were abducted and taken to an unknown location.

This continuous series of abductions is a blatant violation of human rights. It’s part of a systematic campaign of repression and restriction on citizens and their freedoms, indiscriminately targeting both men and women. This alarming trend has intensified recently, representing a dangerous decline unchecked by any legal or moral restraint.

We hold the Houthi group fully responsible for the lives and safety of the abducted, especially the abducted university student.

In this context, we call upon the international community and human rights and women’s organizations to assume their responsibilities. We urge immediate pressure for the unconditional release of all abductees. Additionally, we demand a transparent international investigation into the grave violations civilians face in Al-Hudaydah and other governorates, along with practical steps to halt these abuses and ensure perpetrators don’t escape accountability.

We also emphasize that silence regarding these violations, especially when they target women, encourages the offending parties to persist in their repressive policies without deterrence, deepening the suffering of all Yemenis.
