Abductees Mothers Association statement condemns abducting Prof. Al-Sharjabi in Sanaa

Abductees’ Mothers Association condemns abducting Professor Adnan Abdulkader Al-Sharjabi, 61, who works at Psychology Department in Sana’a University. Prof. Adnan was abducted on September 9th, 2020 while he was on his way to his masters students test, and was taken to an unknown destination.

It was known that Prof. Adnan has been suffering from a heart disease and excess of fluids in the lungs, and, therefore, takes special medications regularly.

The professor’s family stated that their house was stormed, after the abduction, and his personal laptop and flash drive were confiscated.

At Abductees’ Mothers Association, we hold Houthi armed group fully responsible for the life of Prof. Alsharjabi, and demand releasing and compensating him, as our home country cannot afford to lose anymore academics in such difficult war times.

As the negotiations in Geneva are taking place, we condemn continuing the abductions of civilians, academics, journalists, students, and employees, and demand releasing all abductees and forcibly disappeared persons.

Our abducted sons’ conditions have been worsening for five years.

We call upon the United Nations and its Special Envoy to separate the case of abducted civilians from the case of war prisoners, and to pressure to unconditionally release all abductees and forcibly disappeared persons.

Issued by Abductees’ Mothers Association, Sana’a.
