Protest Statement
The Abductees Mothers Association urgently calls upon the internationally recognized legitimate Yemeni government and the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to listen without delay to the plea of the mothers of abductees and forcibly disappeared persons. We urge them to implement the presidential directives concerning the disclosure of the fate of the forcibly disappeared and the closure of secret prisons through concrete and transparent measures on the ground that lead to the genuine return of our sons who have been absent for more than ten years.
We also demand that the file of the forcibly disappeared be placed among the foremost national priorities requiring serious and swift solutions, on par with any other file currently being addressed to impose stability in Yemen, as this is an urgent humanitarian issue that does not tolerate delay or procrastination.
The significant peaceful escalation carried out by mothers today is nothing but an expression of the glimmer of hope that still lives in their hearts for the return of their loved ones. At the same time, it is a resounding cry demanding fairness and justice. With the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan, the month of goodness and mercy, we renew our appeal that this humanitarian call be answered and that promises be translated into actions that restore reassurance to hearts exhausted by waiting. The discovery of several secret prisons found empty of detainees raises grave concern among the families of the forcibly disappeared regarding the fate of their sons. This situation necessitates firm and lawful measures to ensure the immediate disclosure of their places of detention, to enable them to communicate with their families, and to work toward their release before any prison closures are carried out, so as to prevent the destruction of evidence or the loss of rights.
Families further stress the need to pursue all those involved in crimes of abduction, enforced disappearance, and associated violations, ensuring that they do not escape accountability or evade justice. Mothers also express deep concern over any attempts to release some of the disappeared in ways that violate their dignity, such as abandoning them blindfolded in city streets to prevent them from identifying detention sites or responsible parties, actions that cause panic and fear among families.
The Abductees Mothers Association reaffirms its continued peaceful efforts, its firm commitment to the rights of its sons to freedom and dignity, and its demand for the release of all abductees, forcibly disappeared persons, and detainees held by all parties, so that they may regain their freedom and rights as guaranteed by divine laws, international law, and national legislation.
We will not cease demanding the truth.
The voices of mothers will not fade until their sons return to the embrace of their families.
