This Saturday morning, the Abductees’ Mothers Association organized a protest in Hodeida governorate to denounce the continuous violations against their sons, who have been abducted, arbitrarily detained, and forcibly disappeared in various prisons for years by all parties. These violations have only worsened their conditions in detention, while their cause remains neglected.
During the protest, the Association called for the release of their sons, highlighting that “549” abductees, “199” forcibly disappeared persons, and “31” arbitrarily detained individuals remain imprisoned. These detainees are held in prisons by the Houthi group, the Security Belt Forces of the Southern Transitional Council, and forces of the internationally recognized government, exacerbating both their suffering and that of their families, who live under unbearable and harsh conditions.
The Association urged the international community, all human rights organizations, and those concerned with the issue of the abductees to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities by working towards the immediate and unconditional release of all abductees, especially those who are ill.
The Association also called on all parties, as well as national and international mediators, particularly the UN envoy to Yemen, to intensify their efforts to urgently resolve this humanitarian issue and end the suffering of the abductees.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to demanding the rights of their sons, foremost among them the right to freedom and a safe return to their families. They emphasized that the issue of the abductees requires an immediate and final resolution.
