The Abductees’ Mothers Association continues to pursue the case of its forcibly disappeared sons in Aden Governorate and to highlight the ongoing suffering of their mothers, who still do not know the fate or whereabouts of their loved ones. This constitutes a grave violation of Yemeni law, international humanitarian law, and international human rights law, while inflicting prolonged psychological and humanitarian suffering on families who have endured years of enforced separation.
The Abductees’ Mothers Association reaffirms that revealing the fate and whereabouts of the forcibly disappeared is a fundamental right that must neither be neglected nor delayed. The Association therefore calls upon the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Vice Head Lieutenant General Mahmoud Ahmed Al-Subaihi, Attorney General Judge Qaher Mustafa, and Aden Police Chief Major General Motaher Al-Shaibi to fulfill their legal and national responsibilities. It urges them to take serious action to implement the presidential directives concerning the file of the forcibly disappeared, adopt immediate and practical measures to uncover their fate, hold all those responsible for abduction and enforced disappearance accountable, and deliver justice to the victims and their families.
The Association also calls on the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to play a more effective humanitarian and legal role in addressing this issue. It urges them to intensify their efforts and exert pressure on all parties to disclose the fate of the forcibly disappeared and to prevent the continued concealment or suppression of the truth, thereby ensuring families’ right to know the fate of their relatives, ending their prolonged suffering, and securing the return of their loved ones.
The Association stresses that continued silence or delay in addressing this issue only deepens the suffering of affected families, entrenches impunity, and undermines the prospects for justice and the rule of law.
The Abductees’ Mothers Association renews its call on all relevant authorities to treat the issue of enforced disappearance as an urgent humanitarian matter that can no longer tolerate further delay. It urges them to take concrete steps to uncover the truth, provide justice for the victims, and guarantee that such violations are never repeated, thereby strengthening confidence in justice and safeguarding human dignity and fundamental rights.
