The Abductees’ Mothers Association Lunches Mental Health and Wellness Program for Female Inmates at Taiz Central Prison on World Mental Health Day

Over two consecutive days, the Abductees’ Mothers Association conducted a comprehensive mental health and wellness program for 23 female inmates and 6 children at Taiz Central Prison, as part of the “Women Peace Mediators 3”.

The program included a range of awareness-raising and recreational activities designed to improve the inmates’ mental health, alleviate the pressures they experience, and provide strategies for maintaining both mental and physical well-being while incarcerated.

In addition to awareness activities, the program featured recreational sessions aimed at reducing stress and offering inmates a safe and comfortable environment to express themselves.

Program supervisor and representative of the Abductees’ Mothers Association, Ms. Asmaa Al-Ra’i, highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating that it is part of the association’s ongoing efforts to improve the psychological well-being of female inmates. She emphasized that mental health support is just as crucial as any other type of assistance, and the program seeks to equip the inmates with tools to sustain their mental health and navigate the challenges of daily prison life.

The program concluded with the distribution of financial aid and health kits to the inmates, aimed at improving their living conditions. The program was met with widespread appreciation from the inmates, who expressed their gratitude for the support, which brought them hope and psychological relief.

This program is part of a broader series of initiatives by the Abductees’ Mothers Association, in partnership with international organizations, aimed at supporting human rights and improving the lives of vulnerable groups.
