The Abductees’ Mothers Association, along with several human rights organizations, issued a joint statement on the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, calling for:
- The immediate release of all individuals arbitrarily detained.
- Independent and transparent investigations into cases of torture and deaths in detention.
- Including the issue of accountability and combating impunity as a key component in any future political settlement.
- The urgent need to establish an independent and effective mechanism, national or international, to hold perpetrators of grave human rights violations accountable, and to guarantee victims their rights to justice, redress, and dignity.
