The Abductees’ Mothers Association has received a report from the family of abductee Ismail Abdullah Al-Butainah (43 years old), who has been detained in the Central Security Prison in Sana’a since his abduction by the Houthi group on October 20, 2017. The report indicates that his health has severely deteriorated, as he suffers from acute stomach inflammation, persistent diarrhea, and swelling in his testicles. Despite his worsening condition, he is being deliberately denied medical care and deprived of both necessary treatment and family visits.
We, at the Abductees’ Mothers Association, hold the Houthi group fully responsible for the life and safety of Ismail Al-Butainah. We urgently call for his immediate medical treatment, the provision of essential healthcare, and his unconditional release. His continued detention under such dire health conditions constitutes a blatant violation of human rights and international laws that prohibit the mistreatment of detainees.
We urge local and international human rights organizations to intervene immediately to save Ismail Al-Butainah’s life, to press for adequate medical care for all abductees, and to work toward ending their ongoing suffering.
