The Abductees’ Mothers Association renewed its call on Tuesday evening for authorities to disclose the fate of victims of enforced disappearance during a protest held outside the Aden Governorate building in Al-Mualla district. The demonstration brought together mothers, wives, and relatives of abductees and forcibly disappeared persons, some of whom have remained missing for more than a decade.
During the protest, the Association stressed that revealing the fate of the forcibly disappeared is a fundamental right that must not be delayed or neglected. It called on the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Attorney General, and the Director of Aden Police to fulfill their legal responsibilities by implementing presidential directives concerning the enforced disappearance file. The Association urged the authorities to take immediate action to determine the whereabouts of the disappeared, hold those responsible for abductions and enforced disappearances accountable, and ensure justice and redress for the victims and their families.
The Association also appealed to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to intensify their efforts and exert greater pressure on all parties to reveal the fate of the forcibly disappeared, uphold families’ right to know the whereabouts of their loved ones, and help bring an end to their prolonged suffering.
The protest concluded with a symbolic display of photographs of the forcibly disappeared surrounded by candles, underscoring the unwavering determination of their mothers and families to continue demanding the truth about their loved ones, accountability for those responsible, and justice for the victims and their families.
