Abductees’ Mothers Association Condemns the Assassination of the Director of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in Taiz

With hearts filled with pain, the Abductees’ Mothers Association in Taiz strongly condemns the heinous and treacherous crime that claimed the life of Ms. Iftehan Al-Mashhari, Director of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund. In a dangerous precedent, her peaceful life was brutally cut short, depriving her family and the people of her city of a woman known for her dedication to serving her community and her sincerity in work.

This abhorrent crime constitutes a blatant violation of the right to life and security, and a clear threat to women working across service and human rights sectors alike. At a time when efforts are being made to empower women, such crimes form a serious obstacle to these endeavors.

We in the Abductees’ Mothers Association affirm that silence in the face of such crimes only encourages their recurrence, and that the blood of victims will not be forgotten with time. We call on the local authorities and security services in Taiz to swiftly arrest and expose the perpetrators, conduct a prompt and transparent investigation, bring them to justice, and ensure that no party escapes accountability.

May God have mercy on the late Ms. Iftehan Al-Mashhari. Our deepest condolences and sympathy go to her family, relatives, and loved ones across the country.
