Abductees’ Mothers Association Joins Stakeholders in the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances

The Abductees’ Mothers Association participated in an event organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, in partnership with the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Human Rights, to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances in Aden Governorate. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Interior of the internationally recognized government, a representative from the Ministry of Defense, members of the National Commission to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations, alongside several civil society organizations.

During the event, the Association stressed the importance of intensifying government efforts and working with relevant authorities to address the issue of abductees, ratify the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, and strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations and security authorities in line with both local and international law.

The Abductees’ Mothers Association also called for the inclusion of the names of those forcibly disappeared by the Houthi group in any prisoner exchange process, in order to end their suffering and reunite them with their families, who have endured this pain for more than ten years.

The Association further urged all parties in Yemen to reveal the fate of the forcibly disappeared, provide information on their places of detention, and respond to calls for their unconditional release, considering this a crucial step toward achieving genuine peace in the country.
