Abductees’ Mothers Association organizes session “Women Peacebuilders: Stories from the Heart of Conflict”

Marking the 25th anniversary of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, the 10th anniversary of the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership (WASL), and the 5th anniversary of the “She Builds Peace” campaign, the Abductees’ Mothers Association, in collaboration with the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN), organized a discussion session titled “Women Peacebuilders: Stories from the Heart of Conflict.”

The session highlighted the experiences of women who have played active roles in peacebuilding, confronting the challenges of conflict with courage and humanitarian commitment, and contributing to promoting tolerance and social cohesion.

Participants also discussed the importance of women’s inclusion in peace processes and decision-making, in line with the principles of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which emphasizes women’s vital role in achieving security and stability.

During the session, the Abductees’ Mothers Association reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for a just peace and the release of all abductees and forcibly disappeared persons, stressing that peace begins with the voices of women who endure suffering and create hope.
