Abductees Mothers Association rally statement in Ibb on Mothers Day

While all mothers around the world celebrate Mother’s Day with their children, we, mothers of abductees and forcibly disappeared persons in Yemen, have been living in pain, worry, and tears since our sons were abducted. How can we celebrate and feel happy while our beloved sons are illegally in prison?

On Mother’s Day, we, Abductees’ Mothers Association, stand here by prison gates where our sons endure all kinds of pain in their cells. Abductees suffering from different diseases have had their misery doubled as they are prevented from health care. The abductee Mustafa Abdullah Hamoud died a few weeks after he was released from a Houthi prison in Ibb. He spent the few days after his release sick in bed until he passed away. We demand the release of all abductees and forcibly disappeared persons before it is too late.

While Covid-19 has been spreading around the globe, we, mothers of abductees and forcibly disappeared persons, call upon the United Nations, human rights organizations, and all official competent authorities to pay much more attention to our sons’ issue, and to urgently intervene to release them before such diseases outbreaks in prisons. We hold Houthi armed group responsible for the lives and safety of all abductees and forcibly disappeared persons. Finally, we demand the IRC to visit prisons and detention centres.
