Abductees Mothers Association urgent report condemning preventing families of visiting their relatives detained by government in Marib.

Abductees’ Mothers Association condemns preventing families of visiting their abductees detained at Political Security Prison in Marib, which led to the inability of looking after their abducted sons’ needs.

Families claimed that they had lost contact with the 22 detainees held at Political Security Prison, Marib, for more than a year. Some relatives have passed away and detainees were not even notified about it. Abdullah Mohammed Ali Al-Sa’afani, detained since October,2020, lost his brother and sister, and Ahmed Ali Musa’ed Al-Sharafi, detained since May, 2019, lost his mother. Both detainees have no clue of their losses due to the prevention of contact.

At Abductees’ Mothers Association, we condemn the actions that violate 48th Law of 1991 Regarding Prisons Management, which stated in the Sixth Section, Article 30 that, “a prisoner has the right to see his family and relatives, and to receive messages and reply to them.” Therefore, we demand the authorities in Marib to abide by the law and grant prisoners their right to contact their families.

We call upon the Criminal Prosecution to process their casefiles and do them justice.
