Office of Social Affairs and Labor in Taiz Conducts Training on Conflict Sensitivity and Human Rights

As part of its commitment to building institutional capacity in the protection sector, the Social Defense Department and the Women and Children Department at the Office of Social Affairs and Labor in Taiz conducted two specialized training courses titled: “Protection Mechanisms and Human Rights” and “Monitoring, Documentation, and Conflict Sensitivity.”

The trainings were developed to meet an urgent need among staff within the Office, particularly those working in the protection sector, which provides critical services to children, women, and the broader community. These sessions offered a qualitative contribution to the professional development of those engaged in protection work.

The selection of these training sessions, funded by the Abductees’ Mothers Association (AMA) as part of the project titled “Protecting Civil and Women’s Spaces and Promoting Women’s Role in the Peace Process”, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the United Nations Peace Support Facility (UN PSF), was the result of a strong sense of responsibility, sustained efforts, and the practical relevance of the training to the protection, monitoring, and documentation sectors. These areas are vital to the work of the Social Affairs Office, particularly within its protection unit, where a number of staff member, despite already working in the protection field, greatly benefited from the training due to the high level of need.

These sessions represent a significant and qualitative addition to the capacity of the Social Affairs Office team and will pave the way for further training opportunities aimed at enhancing both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the remaining staff.
