Statement by the Abductees’ Mothers Association Condemning the Houthi’s Mass Abductions of Civilians in Several Yemeni Governorates

The Abductees’ Mothers Association condemns the widespread abductions carried out by the Houthi group in several Yemeni governorates, including Ibb, Al-Bayda, Hodeida, Al-Hawban district in Taiz Governorate, and the capital city of Sana’a. In the past week alone, dozens of civilians have been abducted in connection with calls to celebrate the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.

The increase in abductions targeting civilians by the Houthi group and the continuation of these violations constitute a flagrant assault on human rights and a suppression of freedom of expression, silencing voices of dissent.

We, the Abductees’ Mothers Association, strongly denounce this ongoing behavior by the Houthis, which contradicts national values and principles, as well as international and humanitarian laws. We hold them fully responsible for the lives, safety, and fate of our abducted sons.

We call on the international community and all human rights organizations to urgently intervene and exert pressure to stop these violations, hold the perpetrators accountable, and secure the unconditional release of all abductees.

In this context, we emphasize that these oppressive practices and continuous violations must be halted, and those responsible must be brought to justice. It is imperative to ensure freedom for all abductees and uphold the right of Yemeni civilians to live freely and safely under all circumstances.
