The Abductees’ Mothers Association calls on government authorities to urgently and seriously implement the directives of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council regarding the disclosure of the fate of the forcibly disappeared, the closure of secret prisons, and putting a definitive end to years of violations that have targeted our children and deprived their families of the most basic human rights.
The Association emphasizes that any measures related to the closure of secret prisons must be preceded by the full disclosure of the whereabouts of all forcibly disappeared persons, ensuring their safety, and enabling their families to access them. This must be accompanied by independent and transparent investigations into all cases of enforced disappearance and torture, as well as the accountability and prosecution of all those proven to be involved in operating these prisons or committing violations within them, without allowing any official to evade punishment.
The Association also calls on the Governor of Aden to make the issue of abductees and the forcibly disappeared a top priority within his mandate, to work seriously toward ending the suffering of victims and the prolonged anguish of their families, and to take concrete steps that reflect a genuine will to provide justice and redress the harm inflicted upon them.
The Abductees’ Mothers Association reiterates its demand for the immediate release of all forcibly disappeared persons, efforts to secure the release of all arbitrarily detained individuals, their return to the arms of their families and loved ones, and the clearing of prisons of innocent detainees, in line with national law and international human rights conventions.
The continued silence or procrastination in addressing this grave humanitarian issue only deepens the suffering of thousands of families and undermines trust in any reform measures. The Association affirms that it will continue its peaceful and legal struggle until the full truth is revealed and the issue of enforced disappearance is resolved in a just and equitable manner.
