Statement issued by the Abductees’ Mothers Association – Aden

The Abductees’ Mothers Association in the temporary capital, Aden, is closely following the ongoing political and security developments. In this context, the association affirms the following:

  • First: The association expresses its support for all efforts and steps taken by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the leadership of the Presidential Council, which aim to establish the foundations of stability, positively impacting citizens’ lives and reducing violations resulting from overlapping authorities or the absence of an effective central authority.
  • Second: The association announces its support for holding the Southern Dialogue Conference in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, considering it an important opportunity to address outstanding issues through peaceful political dialogue. The association confirms its readiness to participate in a manner that ensures the voices of victims are heard, particularly those forcibly disappeared, arbitrarily detained, and their families.
  • Third: The association renews its urgent demand to reveal the fate of those forcibly disappeared since 2015 and those held in prisons controlled by the Transitional Council militias in Aden, and to grant their families their legal and humanitarian right to know their fate.
  • Fourth: The association calls for an end to abductions and forced disappearances of civilians, disclosure of unofficial detention sites, secret prisons, and placing them under judicial oversight, while allowing local and international human rights and humanitarian organizations unrestricted access, and ultimately eliminating their existence entirely.
  • Fifth: The association demands the formation of a fact-finding committee to investigate violations committed against civilians, especially forced disappearances and arbitrary arrests.
  • Sixth: The association calls for holding accountable all those proven to have participated in or been involved in the disappearance of the forcibly disappeared, the torture of detainees, or the violation of their human dignity, and to bring them to fair and impartial trials, as these crimes constitute serious violations that do not lapse with time.
  • Seventh: The association stresses the necessity of compensating the material and moral damages suffered by mothers, wives, and children as a result of these serious violations, along with the psychological, social, and economic suffering endured over the past years.

The Abductees’ Mothers Association confirms that the issue of forcibly disappeared and arbitrarily detained persons remains a top priority, and that it will continue its peaceful and rights-based struggle until victims are vindicated, the full truth is revealed, and justice is achieved.
