Urgent Humanitarian Appeal to Reveal the Fate of the Forcibly Disappeared and Close Secret Prisons in the Southern Governorates

To the Leadership of the Presidential Leadership Council,
Represented by His Excellency Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi

Greetings,

We address you on behalf of the Abductees’ Mothers Association and the families of the forcibly disappeared in the southern governorates, in light of your declared responsibility to support stability in the country, protect civilians, and uphold the principles of international humanitarian law and human rights.

Based on your moral and humanitarian responsibility toward the issue of abductees and the forcibly disappeared, and given your authority and influence within the political landscape, we call on you to place the file of enforced disappearances at the top of the demands presented to the United Arab Emirates. We urge clear and firm pressure to reveal the fate of those subjected to enforced disappearance by forces affiliated with it or with the Southern Transitional Council, to secure their release, and to close all secret detention facilities, thereby ending the prolonged suffering of families exhausted by years of waiting.

The suffering of dozens of families who have been left without any knowledge of their loved ones’ fate for years constitutes an ongoing humanitarian tragedy. Mothers and fathers continue to live in constant anxiety and pain, deprived of information, contact, and the fundamental legal and human right to know the fate of their sons and to access legal protection and care.

Responding to this humanitarian appeal would represent a fundamental step toward justice. It would reflect a genuine commitment to human dignity, contribute to easing the suffering of families, and help lay the foundations for community peace.

Please accept our highest regards,

Families of the Forcibly Disappeared in Aden
Abductees’ Mothers Association
