The Abductees’ Mothers Association welcomes the agreement reached in Muscat under United Nations auspices, which provides for the release of approximately 2,900 abductees, including the political figure Mr. Mohammed Qahtan.
While we value this important humanitarian development, we extend our highest appreciation and respect to all efforts exerted within the Yemeni negotiation process. This agreement represents a positive step toward building trust and alleviating the severe suffering endured by abductees and their families over many years.
As mothers who have endured the bitterness of enforced absence and the unbearable pain it has caused, we look forward, with hearts full of hope, to seeing this agreement translated into tangible reality. In this context, we emphasize the following demands:
- Serious and firm guarantees to ensure the success of these negotiations and the full implementation of all provisions of the agreement, without delay or selectivity.
- Inclusive consideration of all victims, ensuring that no case is overlooked, and working toward comprehensive and fair solutions for all abductees, forcibly disappeared persons, and detainees, alongside the implementation of support and reintegration programs for victims.
- A clear and transparent implementation plan that includes a specific timeline, monitoring and follow-up mechanisms, and the designation of a responsible authority to ensure effective execution.
Our sons are not numbers in negotiation records; they are lives taken away, dreams put on hold, and families exhausted by waiting. We place our trust in your humanitarian sense and the nobility of your responsibility, and we eagerly await the moment when this agreement becomes a reality that returns our sons to our arms.
May God grant you success in your efforts. We remain hopeful that this step marks the beginning of a serious path toward peace, justice, and an end to the suffering of Yemenis.
With highest respect and appreciation,
Abductees’ Mothers Association
