The Abductees Mothers Association calls on all parties participating in the upcoming round of UN-sponsored consultations in Muscat, scheduled for today, to fully assume their humanitarian responsibilities now that representatives of all sides are present. The Association urges the delegations to move forward in this round with a spirit that rises above the political disputes that have stalled this file for many years, prolonging the suffering of abductees and their families behind prison walls.
Mothers of abductees and their families have been exhausted by years of waiting, more than a decade of holding onto the hope of seeing their loved ones free again. Despite the halt in consultations in recent months, the mothers continue to cling to a glimmer of hope that this round will mark a genuine step toward breaking the deadlock and opening a path to a comprehensive resolution of the detainees file.
The Association stresses that the issue of abductees is a purely humanitarian one that should not be tied to any political calculations. Any progress in this file is a victory for human values and for the fundamental right of every abducted person to freedom and dignity.
The Abductees Mothers Association urges all parties to make this round a turning point toward ending the suffering of abductees, detainees, and the forcibly disappeared held by all sides, ultimately leading to their unconditional release and closing a painful chapter that has persisted for years.
Freedom is a right, and mothers are waiting.
