The Abductees’ Mothers Association, a member of the Justice for Yemen Pact, has inaugurated its first focus group sessions on transitional justice.
The opening session was held in Mukalla, Hadramout Governorate, and brought together participants representing various societal groups.
Participants shared their insights and proposals during the session, emphasizing their visions for promoting acceptance of the principles and mechanisms of transitional justice as a means to foster societal reconciliation and uphold the values of fairness and accountability.
These sessions are part of the “Supporting Peace in Yemen through Accountability, Reconciliation, and Knowledge Exchange (SPARK)” project, which aims to assess awareness levels and promote acceptance of transitional justice principles and mechanisms in Yemen, paving the way for national reconciliation and sustainable justice.
The Abductees’ Mothers Association is engaging a diverse range of societal groups in these sessions, including human rights advocates, journalists, representatives of minorities and marginalized communities, as well as victims and survivors of violations. The sessions also prioritize gender inclusivity to ensure comprehensive and equitable representation.
