As a member of the Justice for Yemen Pact, the Abductees’ Mothers association is implementing the SPARK project in Yemen, funded by DTI. This initiative involves a range of activities, including individual interviews, focus group discussions, and training sessions on transitional justice mechanisms, among other events, in the governorates of Aden, Hadramaut, and Sana’a.
The project’s primary goal is to assess public awareness and foster acceptance of the principles and mechanisms of transitional justice in Yemen. This is seen as a critical step toward advancing national reconciliation and achieving sustainable justice.
A key focus of the project is to gather community perceptions on transitional justice and national reconciliation. By doing so, it aims to raise awareness and build trust within Yemeni civil society.
Additionally, the project seeks to support advocacy efforts to ensure the integration of transitional justice into national plans. These efforts will align with international standards while respecting local contexts, paving the way for meaningful reconciliation and long-lasting justice.
The initiative targets various societal groups, with an emphasis on victims and survivors of violations, human rights activists, journalists, marginalized communities, and minorities. It also prioritizes gender considerations to ensure inclusivity.
