The Abductees’ Mothers Association meets government authorities in Aden

The Abductees’ Mothers Association held a meeting at the office of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Human Rights Violations in Aden Governorate with the Commission’s Vice Chairman, Hussein Al-Mashdali, and two judicial members of the Commission, in the presence of Minister of Legal Affairs Ishraq Al-Maqtari, to discuss the cases of abductees, forcibly disappeared persons, and secret detention facilities.

During the meeting, the Association called on the relevant authorities to take serious and urgent steps to reveal the fate of abductees and forcibly disappeared persons, secure their release, and end the suffering of both the victims and their families before initiating any measures to close secret prisons.

The Association also stressed the importance of holding accountable all those involved in abduction, enforced disappearance, and torture against civilians, whether in official or secret detention facilities, and ensuring they receive appropriate punishment.

The Association highlighted the severe suffering endured by families of the forcibly disappeared over the past ten years, explaining how the disappearance of their relatives has affected all aspects of their lives. It also conveyed the families’ welcome of the recent presidential decisions, which have renewed their hope for justice and redress.

The Association reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts at all levels until all abductees, forcibly disappeared persons, and detainees regain their freedom and are released unconditionally.
