The Abductees’ Mothers Association expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation over reports that the Security and Intelligence Prison and its surrounding areas, along with other detention facilities in Sana’a, were subjected to heavy airstrikes this afternoon, Thursday, September 25.
This alarming escalation puts the lives of hundreds of abductees, held arbitrarily in these facilities, in imminent danger. Until now, there has been no clear information regarding their fate, compounding the panic and anguish of their families who are living through a nightmare.
Targeting facilities that hold detainees constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. We at the Abductees’ Mothers Association urgently demand that families be allowed to contact their abducted sons to reassure them and ease their psychological suffering. We also call on all relevant parties to take full legal and moral responsibility by immediately providing transparent information on the fate of all detainees, clarifying their health conditions, and disclosing their current whereabouts.
We further urge that all necessary and urgent measures be taken to protect the abductees from further harm and to shield them from the perils of this ongoing conflict.
This is a desperate humanitarian cry. We appeal to the international community and to human rights and humanitarian organizations to exert immediate pressure to ensure these legitimate demands are met and to protect the lives of innocent detainees before it is too late.
