Urgent report of Abductees Mothers Association condemning preventing visits at Central Security Prison in Sanaa after airstrikes around the building.

Abductees’ Mothers Association condemns the prevention of visits weekly paid by the mothers and relatives of abductees held at Central Security Base Prison in Sana’a. Families were unable to acquire enough information to rest assured after Arab Coalition carried out airstrikes around the prison’s perimeter on December 23rd, 2021.

Despite having some families receiving phone calls from their terrorized detained relatives, as one told his sister and mother “I thought I would never hear your voices again!”, Houthi armed group is determined to prevent any visits at Central Security Prison. Thus, the abductees and forcibly disappeared persons held there face unknown fate.

As we condemn detaining our sons at targeted buildings and hold Houthi armed group responsible for the lives and safety of our abducted sons held at Central Security Base Prison in Sana’a, we, also, hold the coalition forces responsible for any bombing that may lead to harming detainees at any prison. We demand Houthi armed group and the Arab Coalition to abide by the International Humanitarian Law regarding prisons, which are considered civilian objects during conflicts.

We demand the OHCHR, ICRC and all other human rights organizations, locally and internationally, to step up the pressure in order to allow visits for abductees’ families in, and to take the needed actions to release them and grant their safety.
