A Statement of Condemnation by the Abductees’ Mothers Association Denouncing the Deaths of Three Detainees under Mysterious Circumstances in the Prisons of the Houthis and Tareq Saleh.

The Abductees’ Mothers Association received reports of the deaths of three detainees during the holy month of Ramadan. The Association extends condolences to the families of the victims and condemns these crimes committed by the Houthi group and the Joint Forces of the Western Coast under the leadership of Tareq Saleh. The deceased individuals include:

– Sabri Abdullah Mohammed Saleh Al-Hakimi, a senior trainer at the Ministry of Education in Sana’a, who was abducted by the Houthi group on October 3, 2023.
– Khalid Hussein Ghazi, a prisoner in Dhamar, was found with stab wounds under his chin, and his family refused to accept the body until it was examined by a forensic doctor.
– Ali Shujaei, detained in the Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari camp under the command of the Joint Forces in the Western Coast in Hodeida, also passed away under mysterious circumstances. The families were informed of their loved ones’ deaths and were asked to receive and bury them, but they refused until the bodies were examined by a forensic doctor, a request rejected by the abductors represented by the Houthis and Tareq Saleh’s forces.

These deaths, totaling three during the month of Ramadan, constitute a grave violation of human rights and a crime against humanity. They highlight the mistreatment of detainees, starting from their abduction without legal justification to their suffering and poor detention conditions, culminating in their deaths without knowledge of the causes.

The Association expresses full solidarity with the families of the victims, shares their grief, and demands accountability for the perpetrators of these crimes to prevent their recurrence. The Association expresses concern about the fate of the remaining abductees and demands their immediate release. It holds all parties fully responsible for their lives and safety. The international community and human rights organizations are urged to act urgently to stop these crimes and pressure for the release of all abductees before it is too late. Such heinous crimes constitute a serious violation of human rights and international humanitarian law and must be stopped. We stand with the families of the victims and demand justice for their sons by holding the violators accountable.
