Abductees Mothers Association Rally Statement Demanding Special Envoy to Include Releasing Abductees, Detainees, and Forcibly Disappeared in His Effort to Lift Blockade in Taiz.

In Taiz, Abductees’ Mothers Association has documented the abduction of 401 civilians, who were arrested at Houthi armed group’s checkpoints. 39 of those abductees are still held prisoners in horrible detention conditions.

At Abductees’ Mothers Association, and in conjunction with the extension of truce, which states lifting the blockade of Taiz, we rally here, by the governorate administrative center, to condemn denying abducted civilians, who had been arrested by the checkpoints surrounding Taiz, any access to their rights, and ignoring the suffering of their mothers who face death and agony on their way to visit. Added to that was the suffering of forcibly disappeared civilians’ mothers, whose last contact with their sons was when they were stopped at checkpoints.

We have repeatedly condemned restriction of movement and abducting civilians at checkpoints. We, now, demand the immediate release of our abducted sons. We reiterate that their freedom is a part of the solution as they have been abducted at the same checkpoints used to impose the blockade of Taiz.

Their release is vital for the desired peace and lifting the blockade.

With mothers’ hearts that have been repeatedly broken by fear, longing, and postponed promises, we demand the Special Envoy to include releasing our abducted and detained sons in his efforts to lift the blockade of Taiz.
