The Abductees’ Mothers Association is following with grave concern the escalation of abduction campaigns perpetrated by the Houthi armed group in Ibb Governorate since the beginning of the current year. These campaigns have resulted in 192 documented cases of abduction against civilians, representing a blatant violation of national laws and international human rights conventions.
The pace of these violations significantly accelerated last month, coinciding with the national anniversary of the September 26th Revolution, during which the group launched widespread abduction campaigns across the governorate.
We, at Abductees’ Mothers Association, condemn in the strongest possible terms these repressive campaigns, which serve to entrench a climate of fear and subjugation while undermining the foundations of justice and the rule of law. We affirm that the continuation of these violations constitutes a crime against humanity that necessitates urgent action from the international community and human rights organizations to hold perpetrators accountable and ensure the immediate and unconditional release of all abductees.
We further hold the Houthi armed group fully responsible for the safety of the abductees. We call upon the United Nations, the Office of the Special Envoy, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to exert serious pressure to halt the campaigns of abduction and enforced disappearance, and to compel the group to respect the fundamental freedoms and human rights of the Yemeni people.
We reiterate our full solidarity with the families of the abductees, emphasizing that the voice of justice will not be silenced and that crimes do not lapse by prescription.
