Khaled Al-Haith Obituary

As mothers grieve, we, at Abductees’ Mothers Association, mourn the death of the abductee Khaled Mohammed Mahmoud Al-Haith. Khaled, a 45-year-old abductee, passed away today, November 20th 2019, after four years of abduction and detention. He was unlawfully abducted on February 26th, 2016. He was neither indicted nor referred to public prosecution. Sadly, he ended up dying as a result of healthcare negligence in a Houthi prison.

Khaled Al-Haith started suffering from health deterioration after he had been repeatedly tortured at Habrah Prison and Althawra Prison in Sana’a. He asked to be transferred to hospital several times since the beginning of 2018. He was only admitted to hospital at the beginning of this month after he seriously fell sick as his common bile duct was clogged. The transfer, admission, and treatment were at financial expense of his family. He had an operation but was refused the right to have the necessary healthcare afterwards. He was transferred back to prison, despite his family’s repeated demands of releasing him, where his health fatally deteriorated again which led to his death.

We, at Abductees’ Mothers Association, hold Houthi armed group fully accountable. We call upon human conscience of all Yemenis and human rights to help us create the necessary pressure to save and release all the abductees and forcibly hidden individuals unconditionally and immediately.
