Statement by the Abductees’ Mothers Association Condemning the Abduction of (45) International and Local Organization Employees and Medical Company Staff by the Houthi Group in Sana’a

The Abductees’ Mothers Association condemns the abduction of 45 individuals by the Houthi group in Sana’a. Among the abductees are employees of international and local organizations and medical companies, including five women, one of whom was taken along with her two children.

We strongly denounce this inhumane act, which constitutes a blatant violation of international law, human rights, and all international conventions and norms that guarantee the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers. We reject the Houthi’s oppressive policy targeting employees of officially authorized entities in Yemen.

These repressive actions are heinous crimes added to the series of violations committed by the Houthi group against the Yemeni people. This includes continuous abductions, especially of women, which have recently escalated, and even children have not been spared.

The international community’s silence on the abductions carried out by the Houthis against employees of human rights organizations and civil institutions represents complicity in the crime. We urge the international community to break this silence, intervene immediately, and exert pressure on the Houthis to release the abducted employees.

We, at the Abductees’ Mothers Association, express our full solidarity with the victims and their families. We hold the Houthi group fully responsible for their lives and safety, and we will continue to raise our voices until all civilian abductees are released and those who committed these violations are held accountable. The continued violations and crimes by the Houthi group reflect their disregard for human life and rights and pose a threat to peace and stability efforts in Yemen. Therefore, we renew our call for the international community to take serious and decisive steps to protect civilians, whose suffering increases as the humanitarian situation in Yemen deteriorates.
