The Association of Abductees’ Mothers participates in a seminar in commemoration of the World Children’s Day

The Association of Abductees’ Mothers participated in a seminar organized in Aden Governorate, and highlighted the role of committees, government institutions and civil society organizations in protecting children’s rights in Yemen.

During the session, the Association of Abductees’ Mothers submitted a set of inquiries to the committee about its work related to children, its vision in enhancing the protection of children’s rights in Yemen, and the mechanism of cooperation with it in a way that contributes to providing services to children in all aspects. It also inquires about the mechanisms followed by the SEYAJ Organization for Childhood Protection, the significance of networking as wellas the cooperation between civil society organizations to achieve justice and accountability for children in Yemen, ensure their protection from violations, and enhance their rights.

During its period of work, the committee documented (3,697) cases of killing and maiming of children, (503) cases of kidnapping, (909) cases of recruitment, in addition to (28) incidents of sexual violence, and (106) attacks on schools and hospitals.

The seminar was organized by the National Committee to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations. (40) participants from representatives of government institutions in the Ministries of Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights, as well as the Office of the Attorney General, and representatives of local and international civil society organizations were present.
