Abductees’ Mothers Association Sounds the Alarm about the Constant Failing Abductees and Detainees Face and Life Threats in Prisons.

Abductees’ Mothers Association sounded the alarm about failing the case of abductees and arbitrarily detained, and forcibly disappeared persons for a long time. The case, which is primarily humanitarian, had been accompanied by postponement and delay by the international community and Yemeni parties.

In their rally this morning by the office of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen, mothers condemned the recurring violations against the abducted, forcibly disappeared, and arbitrarily detained individuals held by all parties, resulting in the deterioration of our detained sons’ conditions, and demanded their unconditional release.

Mothers stated that dozens of abductees suffered critical and horrible medical conditions. The family of Tawfiq Al-Mansouri, a journalist, had reported “His life is in danger and he is in dire need of a transfer to a hospital to receive the proper treatment and medical care.

The deterioration in his health is a result of the physical and mental torture he has been facing in Houthi armed group’s prisons while the group deny him the right of treatment and hospitalization. Houthis are, apparently, determined to lead him and the other journalists to slow death, as repeatedly threatened by the group.”

The rally statement reiterated that many abductees had been forcibly disappeared for long periods of time, only to be returned to their families as dead bodies, like the case of Yasser Al-Junaid from Alhudayda, who was forcibly disappeared by Houthis for five years and his family could only see him as a dead body.

The association stated that there, currently, 413 abducted civilians, including 97 forcibly disappeared individuals, held by Houthi armed group, 18 arbitrarily detained civilians held by the security forces in Marib, and 5 arbitrarily detained civilians held by the Joint Forces at the western coast.

Mothers, also, condemned stalling the implementation of the humanitarian issue of abductees. Since signing the Stockholm Agreement, only a limited part of the issue had been carried out in October, 2020. It had not been fully implemented despite the repeated promises to completely solve the issue.
