Protest by Abductees Mothers Association to Demand Ending Violations and Violence Against Women and Revealing the Fate of the Forcibly Disappeared and Releasing Them.

“No to violence.” “No to raids.”, “We are seeking the release of our forcibly disappeared sons.. No to violence against us by the security authorities.”

With these words, Abductees’ Mothers Association demanded, during its rally this morning in Aden in front of Al-ma’asheeq Presidential Palace, that the security authorities respond to their legitimate rights on the occasion of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

They demanded the immediate release of their sons who were forcibly disappeared in the prisons. It is considered a basic right for all mothers and wives to have their relatives who were kidnapped and forcibly disappeared returned to them so that peace can prevail.

In a statement issued at the protest, the association announced its full solidarity with the mothers and families of the forcibly disappeared who have been facing unspeakable suffering. This suffering starts with the daily anxiety they live in and the fear for their forcibly disappeared relatives’ live, some of whom have been missing for seven years. It also includes all forms of physical and verbal violence that mothers and wives of the forcibly disappeared are subjected to in their search for them.

The association also announced that there are 61 civilians in Aden who are still forcibly disappeared and there is no way to get any information to know their conditions. This is causing additional suffering for these mothers, in addition to the authorities’ disregard and failure to take effective measures to reveal the fate of their sons.

The Association condemned the suffering of the mothers and relatives of the forcibly disappeared caused by the absence of the families’ provider due to the forcible disappearance of their sons and relatives. It also condemned the extortion and insults that they are subjected to by the relevant authorities and the prison administration during their search for their relatives. The association called upon the international community and the government agencies to take immediate actions to reveal the fate of the forcibly
