Abductees Mothers Association statement demanding to release their sons as Ramadan draws closer

Here comes the sixth Ramadan while our abducted and forcibly disappeared sons are still imprisoned. Consequently, we no longer feel the joy of the month. Additionally, Covid-19 pandemic continues to spread, threatening 1919 abductees at Houthi armed group’s prisons, 46 abductees at legitimate government’s prisons, and 40 abductees at military and security organizations’ prions. Those abductees are kept at terrible detention conditions and visits are prevented. Only God knows how they are managing their days there.

We, at Abductees’ Mothers Association, call upon Houthi armed group, legitimate government, and military and security organizations to release all abductees and arbitrarily arrested and forcibly disappeared persons, and to let mothers reunite with their sons before Ramadan, the month of mercy and forgiving, starts.

We call upon international community, headed by the United Nations, to pressure Houthi armed group, legitimate government, and military and security organizations to release all abductees and arbitrarily arrested and forcibly disappeared persons. We, also, call upon UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffiths, to pressure the parties who signed Stockholm Agreement to immediately start implementing it by release detainees listed on the agreed prisonepeacefully.

We call upon all Yemeni, mainly social moderators, to generate more public efforts to save their abducted and forcibly disappeared fellow Yemenis held by all parties. Their detention period has been too long and it is time to spend their Ramadan with their families peacefully.
