Urgent report of Abductees Mothers Association condemning violations against Abdulmajid Alous at Houthi prisons, leading to his death.

Abductees’ Mothers Association mourns the abductee, Abdulmajid Abdulhamid Mohammed Alous, 60 years old, who died after more than five years of abduction.

Alous was abducted Houthi armed group in Sana’a on March 17th, 2016. He was taken off the street while going home from mosque after Dhuhur prayer, and was forcibly disappeared for 3 months. When his family was eventually allowed to visit, they noticed the clear marks of burns and bruises on his body.

He was referred to general prosecution, and denied all the confessions he made, which were coerced and made under brutal torture. He demanded the persecution to examine the torture scars and injuries, but his demand was denied. He was, after that, referred to the Specialized Criminal Court, which issued his execution judgement on July 10th, 2017.
After making an appeal, the Court of Appeal upheld the trial judgement and made its ruling on December 15th, 2019, upholding the execution judgment.

However, Alous had stroke and cerebral bleed in June 2020, and was admitted to Aljumhouri Hospital in Sana’a. His family was only allowed to visit him twenty days after his admission, and he was unable to speak and seemed terribly weak.

Yesterday, November 23rd, 2021, the abductee, Abdulmajid Alous died at Science and Technology Hospital in Sana’a after staying at intensive care unit for 5 days, due to a second stroke he suffered at Political Security Prison in Shamlan area.
