Based on our aims at Abductees’ Mothers Association to work in attempt to end the suffering of our abducted, forcibly disappeared and arbitrarily arrested sons, we have been proactive in monitoring the violations against them in order to compensate them and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In conjunction with the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, November 2nd, we, at Abductees’ Mothers Association, have monitored the violations against journalists. The number of abducted journalists has mounted to 58, abducted by Houthi armed group, the government, or Southern Transitional Council forces.

The Specialized Criminal Court in Sana’a has issued execution judgements upon five journalists based on their occupation. While only of these journalists, Yehya Al-Jubaihi, has been released, the other four, Abdulkhaleq Amran, Akram Al-Waleedi, Tawfiq Al-Mansouri, and Alhareth Humaid, still face the execution while being held at Central Security Prison in Sana’a, and prevented of any visits.

Abducted journalists have been subjected to brutal torture, including forced disappearance. Wahid Al-Soufi, for example, has been forcibly disappeared since 2015. Moreover, the journalists, Abdullah Qabel and Yousef Al-Ayzari, were detained at targeted areas, which led to their death in the bombing of Harran, Dhamar in 2015.

At Abductees’ Mothers Association, we condemn, in our rally, all violations against the journalists and their freedom, which include the issued execution judgements, and call to drop those judgements. We demand to grant them their right to practice their occupation, and to compensate those affected by violators.

In this globally celebrated day, we reiterate our demands to bring the perpetrators of such violations against the journalists to justice and to end impunity for the crimes against them.

Issued by Abductees’ Mothers Association.

November 2nd, 2021.
